New Work

I've been bad....my Christmas gift from My Hubby was a table computer which I just LOVE. But, it came with a kindle app, and this spelled trouble. I've read 6 books since Christmas! And this means I've been spending a lot of time outside of the studio. Bad Me.... ;) I got back in the swing this last weekend with a trip to the local gem show. While we were searching for new things I came across these Rosella opal cabs and just had to have them. They have an amazing glow and beautiful yellow and lime color.

  1. Sa-weet! I have a stack of this material that I need to cut and polish more of as I am totally in love with the color. I've never heard them called Rosella opal but do know that they're an Australian stone and they take a polish beautifully, as these two pieces show. Lovely color and lovely work :: lynn

    1. Hi Lynn,

This is the first time I've seen this stone, what do you call it?

    2. When I bought the slabs, the guy told me it was just common opal that he bought in rough form in Australia so I've just called it a common opal from Australia. I've made a few pieces of jewelry from what I cabbed and it is just luscious, as your beautiful work shows and now I'm glad I at least have the Rosella name to attach to it! If you want more cabs, convo me through flickr or etsy and I'll dig out what I have left but I can tell you this - I'm ready to start setting more after seeing these! I'm in love with the top one :: lynn

    1. Hi T!
I got caught up in Terri Reid's Mary O'Rielly Paranormal Mysteries. The are fun, easy reads. Right now I'm reading Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. I love these new stones!!! The color is amazing when the light hit them.
Stay dry!! KGW is teasing us with sun breaks Friday and Saturday...Hope so.
